Inspiration

“I have heard it all my life, from family, friends and strangers invited to join our family table – just how good and special is the food prepared by my Godma and Mother (Mama). Their recipes and specialities seem to have the ability to lift people and satisfy them beyond just satiating their appetites.

Both Godma and Mama are strong principled women who are generous of their time and support for people. I spend a great deal of time with both of them in my formative years. Among other characteristics, their qualities of generosity and doing things for others are ones that I hold particularly dear to me.

By way of gratitude, to celebrate them and to preserve their legacy and recipes, I decided to start Godmama – inspired by both their names – Godma and Mama.”

Cuisine

A blend of cultures, the food at Godmama is full of harmonious contradictions:

It is vibrant and bold, yet familiar and comforting;
It is beautiful to look at, yet close to its original form;
It is nostalgically Peranakan, yet thoroughly modern.

From our kitchen to your dining table, every dish we serve you is legacy on a plate.

From our hands, to yours.

Philosophy

We are environmental-focused at Godmama and take extra care to minimize the impact our business has on the environment. Our chefs use the whole vegetable – from root to fruit – wherever possible and our bar team has cut out plastic drinking straws entirely in the effort to minimize waste.

We are also committed to supporting local and regional craftsmen for its produce, design, and wares. By doing so, we aim to reduce the amount of carbon footprint and the impact it has on the environment.

Godmama is committed to supporting local and regional craftsmen for its produce, design, and wares. Some of our local craftsmen we support include:

Coffee Beans by TAD Coffee
Tea Leaves by ETTE Tea Co.
Customised Ice Cream by Apiary
Gin by Brass Lion Distillery
Aprons by FIN Crafted Goods
