LOCAL FOCAL

While Singaporean brands are seeing a rise in support from local consumers, it is our belief that as a fellow Singaporean brand, Godmama can also do our part in growing and supporting Singapore’s network of local brands by using locally sourced produce, design and wares. For example, we use coffee beans and tea leaves from TAD Coffee and ETTE Tea Co., customised sorbet from Apiary, Gin from Brass Lion Distillery and custom-made aprons from FIN Crafted Goods.

DOING OUR PART

More than just a buzzword, the impact of climate change is an important issue that places the restaurant industry as one of its biggest contributors.

Godmama takes active steps to tackle this issue and reduce the impact of our carbon footprint through the meticulous use of foods to keep food waste to a minimum during preparation, eliminating the use of plastic straws and incorporating energy efficient equipments in our setup. We are also working to adopt more eco friendly practices as Godmama grows.

Inspiration

“I have heard it all my life, from family, friends and strangers invited to join our family table – just how good and special is the food prepared by my Godma and Mother (Mama). Their recipes and specialities seem to have the ability to lift people and satisfy them beyond just satiating their appetites.

Both Godma and Mama are strong principled women who are generous of their time and support for people. I spent a great deal of time with both of them in my formative years. Among other characteristics, their qualities of generosity and doing things for others are ones that I hold particularly dear to me.

By way of gratitude, to celebrate them and to preserve their legacy and recipes, I decided to start Godmama – inspired by both their names – Godma and Mama.”
